Ultra fans are spoiled for choice this month as the 11th running of the Transcontinental and Mother North kick-off. With two flavours of Ultra distance events to choose from, there's all the dot watching content one's heart could desire.
The mythical Transcontinental race takes on a new route this year. Starting from northwestern Spain at the very apt Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, before heading east over the Tourmalet down through Tuscany before heading across to Tirana (by boat of course) and then on to the Black Sea in Romania.
Despite some tire trouble our very own Cynthia Carson (AKA Watt Wagon) is sitting in 2nd place and hunting down the first-place rider as they head towards the ferry.

Just a hair farther north, you'll find the Mother North race. There, our longtime ambassador and owner of one of the nicest custom-painted Extremas, Niccolo Varanini is taking on the 1000km route with 16000m of elevation.
