Our previous GET CREATIVE stories were very colorful, including the Strada Flecha “ON” TDF bike, so now it’s time for a more subdued-monochrome Exploro from the hands of US artist Ross Piper at Ross Piper Designs. He explains his process:
“With the opportunity to design and paint a custom “Ready to Paint” 3T Exploro I began to think about what the design would be. 3T has a deep history in Italy and in cycling. I began to sketch thinking of a way of combining history with design. The company started in Torino, Italy and immediately I knew that the style / design of the frame would make the perfect canvas for a topographical map of Torino and the surrounding elevations.”
“The lines of the frame were used for spring points of how the color would be differentiated. A grey/green was used to express that “old map” feeling with the logos, topography lines and sections in black for sharp contrast.”
“The topographical lines and 3T logo are hand striped onto the frame to give heritage to the Italian “hand-crafted” mentality.”
“It was a privilege to work with 3T on this custom “Ready to Paint” Exploro!”
