Preparing for 'From Zero to Mount Everest' (1)

Nico Valsesia is the sportsman and author of the Italian best seller “La Fatica non esiste” (There is no such thing as fatigue).

Nico has recently joined us both as a retailer (he has a store on Lake Maggiore where he has started selling the Strada and the Exploro) and as an ambassador. He is famous for having completed the Race Across America (RAAM) several times, ranking second in 2006 and third in 2014 in 9 days and 12 hours of cycling.

Recently, Nico embarked on a project called “From Zero To …” in which he attempts to set the distance record from sea level to the highest peaks of every continent. After having conquered the Mont Blanc, the Aconcagua, the Elbrus and the Kilimanjaro, last year he reached the Capanna Margherita refuge on the Monte Rosa starting from Genova in 14 hours and 31 minutes using a bicycle and then skiing.

His goal for 2020 is to crown his amazing project by reaching the summit of Mount Everest from Calcutta. In order to train for this incredible challenge, Nico will complete four training stages in 2019: in June he completed the first of the 4 training plans, reaching the peak of Mount Etna from Catania in 4 hours and 10 minutes.

On Monday 15th of July 2019 (today!) he will start for the second stage trying to reach the peak of Monviso (3.841 mslm) leaving from the Mouth of the Po in spite of the adverse metereological conditions: during the night 20 inches of snow fel over Rifugio Quintino Sella (2.640 msls), so this one is going to be an epic one!

Later this year, Nico will be go even more extreme with the finishline on the top of the mythics Mount Cervino: 4.478 mslm.

Stay tuned for the ‘From zero to…’ series!
