The BC Bike Race - Gravel Explorer

Stage racing is, of course, something familiar to fans of road racing. Anyone new to the sport hears the tales and legends from the Tour. And, in the flatbar world, there are two, stage races that really draw in people’s attention. That’s the Cape Epic in South Africa and the BC Bike Race in, as the name suggests, British Columbia, Canada.

BC Bike Race is going on 15 years of showcasing British Columbia’s impressive singletrack. The race brings in riders from across the globe and the world’s best come out every year to ride the trails. So when the team at BCBR let us know that they were putting together a gravel event it was something we knew that we had to be a part of.

Like any good gravel adventure, the 5-stage BCBR Gravel Explorer combines fire roads, singletrack, rail trail and a dash of asphalt to put together a recipe that will resonate for any gravel aficionado. The inaugural BCBR Gravel Explorer we be based out of the Okanagon and follows a modified hub and spoke route so riders can really explore the depth of the gravel options in BC’s interior.

Beyond the epic riding, racers will have the chance to explore the region’s vineyards and distilleries that have garnered worldwide recognition over the last 20 years. Tantalus and Priest Creek are particularly close to the route and riders will have to resist the temptation to not pull over for a quick tasing

If you happen to be in the area over the next week there are still a few spots open. Check out BCBRGRAVEL.COM for more info. We will also be on-site all week showcasing the RaceMax, so pop down and say hi or bend our ear about the 3T Lineup… we might even have some swag to give away.
