THE ORIGIN: REALFAST GRAVEL 

When gravel was still undefined, 3T introduced a new idea: combining road speed with off-road capability in one bike. 

With Exploro, we applied aerodynamic research to real tire dimensions, creating bikes that are fast not only on asphalt, but also on dirt. 

To do this, we introduced a new way of measuring tires:  

  • WAM (Width As Measured)  
  • RAM (Radius As Measured) 

Instead of relying on nominal sizes, we design our frames around the actual width and radius of mounted tires, ensuring consistent performance across different setups. Learn more about WAM & RAM

It was a new category. A gravel bike designed to do everything, without compromise.

FROM ONE BIKE TO A SYSTEM 

Gravel has evolved and tires are a big part of that evolution. 

What started with relatively narrow setups has expanded into a wide spectrum of tire volumes, each unlocking different riding possibilities. From fast-rolling 35–40 mm tires to high-volume setups well beyond 50 mm, the way bikes interact with terrain has fundamentally changed. 

As tire dimensions increased, so did the demands on the bike. Speed, comfort, control and efficiency can no longer be optimized all at once within a single platform. 

The idea of one bike that does everything has reached its limits. 

At 3T, this led to a shift: from one versatile platform to a system of dedicated solutions. 

Not one bike to do it all. But multiple bikes, each designed to do more, better. 

TIRE CLEARANCE IS JUST THE BEGINNING 

The evolution of gravel riding is closely linked to the evolution of tires. 

As tire volume increased, new possibilities emerged, but also new constraints. Speed, comfort, control and efficiency are no longer defined by a single setup. 

That’s why each 3T platform is designed around a specific tire range and riding condition. 

The Primo² WPNT fits tires up to 45 mm with 700c wheels and up to 51 mm WAM with 650b wheels. 

The Racemax WPNT fits tires up to 45 mm WAM and up to 61 mm WAM with 650b wheels, while the Racemax² ITALIA pushes the limit to 51 mm WAM with 700c wheels [learn more here]

The Extrema ITALIA accommodates tires up to 57 mm WAM on 700c wheels, maximizing grip and control on rough terrain. 

The Ultra² ITALIA matches this maximum tire clearance, with space for tires up to 57 mm WAM, and extends capability further. Designed to work with both rigid and suspension fork setups, it introduces a new level of control and consistency when terrain becomes more demanding. 

You can choose a single wheelset to tackle all terrain types, or go for a dual wheelset setup to adapt to changing conditions.
