We hope you enjoyed our latest “Get Creative” blog with our friends at Rolling Dreamers, and now it’s time to travel down under to meet the latest creation from the guys at Pump’n’Pedals in Australia, let’s Adam tell us about the project :
James (the rider/owner of the 1 of 1 Exploro LTD Gold) really wanted his bike to match his personal flair and love for beautifully crafted equipment. During the art work consultation James mentioned a 19th century Vintage Hercules Straight Backed barber’s chair that was Black leather with Gold trim! So the idea was born, now we just had to figure out how to paint it.
As you know, the 3T Exploro comes in a couple of different colors, we were fortunate enough to receive the Black/Grey LTD which made the mock up and design process a breeze seeing as we were keeping with the original 3T design and just adding a touch of custom flair. Drawing inspiration from the 19th century Vintage Hercules barber’s chair we decided that simply painting the 3T Black with Gold accents wasn’t going to cut it, the Exploro deserved something special, something that makes you keep looking for more hidden detail. The end result was a stunning mix of Jet Black/Raw Carbon Clear/Zeus Gold.
The process involved in getting the Exploro ready for paint meant removing all existing paint and logos back to raw carbon and polishing the areas that would remain a raw finish, from there we laid down the Jet Black giving us the base background behind the Zeus Gold highlights, once dry we can polish the Jet Black in preparation to lay the Zeus Gold badges. The way we achieved the incredible multi-layer Gold finish was nothing short of painting excellence, first we laid down a silver base, polished the silver then added a house of color Chrome base to give us the shine we were chasing, once dry we laid down the Clear Candy Chrome Zeus Gold to deliver the brilliant finish, we then cleared the entire frame and polished it again.
I think you’ll agree that the end result is gorgeous! Since receiving his Exploro, James (the owner of this stunning Exploro) and his wife have decided that she also need one of these amazing bikes so stay tune to see what we come up with!
